Privacy Policy

Last updated 10 October 2026

Folliclever helps you track your scalp and hair over time with photos. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. It covers the Folliclever website and app.

What we collect

  • Your account. Your email address and name, from the account you sign in with. We never see or store a password.
  • Details you give us. Your date of birth, gender and ethnicity; your main concern and how long you have had it; your hair colour, texture and length; the treatments you use; and a short check-in before each later scan (such as shedding and what has changed). Where there is a “prefer not to say” answer, you can use it.
  • Treatments you track. If you use treatment tracking: the treatments or products you log (by name and kind), when you started, paused or stopped them, how often you use them, an optional cost, and at each check-in how consistently you used them, anything new, any scalp symptoms (pain, burning, itching, sores) and whether you had a haircut or dyed your hair.
  • Photos and scan details. The scalp photos you take or upload, the area you chose, the date you say each photo was taken, and details about how it was captured (such as lighting, camera and browser type). Photos are saved without the location and other data your phone embeds in them.
  • Results. The estimates, measurements and notes we produce from your photos, the comparisons you make, and the summaries on your dashboard (for example how an area has changed between scans), which we calculate from your own results.
  • My Routine. What you choose to tell us about your hair care (such as washing and styling), daily life (diet, exercise, sleep, stress, smoking, alcohol) and, if you like, your health background (such as recent illness, deficiencies, medicines that can affect hair, and family history). Every answer is optional, and you can choose “prefer not to say” for the health questions. We keep each answer with its date, so you can see how it changed; you can change or clear them at any time. The more you share, the better Future Me previews and written answers can be (see below). This is not sent to the scan analysis.
  • Payments. If you subscribe to Premium, our payment provider takes each monthly payment and we receive a reference for it, the amount, the currency, the date and whether it went through, and the status of your subscription. We never see your card or bank details.
  • Illustrative previews. If you use previews: the picture we make from your photo, the treatments or habits and the number of months you choose, a description of how your hair looks and where it is thin that we read from your photo, and a record that you confirmed the notice that a preview is only an illustration (which notice and when).
  • Written answers. If you use Ask Future Me: the products you type, the answers we write for you (with the date, and the facts about you they rest on), and your choice to delete them. See “Written answers” below.
  • Optional distance set-up. If you use it, the camera view is processed on your device and we keep only the resulting measurement, not a photo of your face.
  • How you use the service. Which features you use (for example that a scan was uploaded, a comparison or your dashboard opened, or that you finished the welcome tour and when), how long you have used the service (a running total of the time the site was open and in use, counted from a signal sent about once a minute while you are using it), without the content of your answers, and standard technical logs such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, used to keep the service secure and running.

If you used an earlier version of Folliclever, we moved your account, photos and past results to this version. This policy applies to them too.

Sensitive information

Information about your hair and scalp, and some of the details above, can count as health-related or sensitive information in some places. We use it only to provide the service as described here. By uploading photos and answering the questions you agree to us handling it this way, and you can withdraw that at any time by deleting your account.

How we use it

  • To analyse your photos and show you results, trends and comparisons.
  • To make the illustrative previews and the written answers you ask for (see below).
  • To show you a summary of your own scans, routine and next steps on your dashboard.
  • To take payments for Premium, give you the access you paid for and keep the records the law requires.
  • To keep your history so you can compare scans over time.
  • To run, secure and support the service, and to fix problems.
  • To check and improve the quality and reliability of the results, which includes our authorised team looking at photos and results.
  • To meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who can see it

  • You. Your photos and results are private to your account.
  • Our team. Authorised members of the Folliclever team can view photos, results and the details you gave, to operate and support the service and to check its quality. Their access is limited to people who need it, and when someone opens another person’s photos or downloads them, that is recorded.
  • Service providers. We use trusted providers to host the service, store photos, sign you in, take payments, analyse photos automatically with artificial intelligence, create illustrative previews and write answers. To analyse a scan we send your photos, the area each one shows and capture details (lighting, an estimate of camera distance and the type of device) to the analysis service. We do not send your name, email, check-in answers or the details you gave about yourself for the analysis. To make a preview, a photo and the details it needs are sent to the image service. To write an answer for you we send text only, no photos, to the language service (see “Written answers” below). These providers handle information only to provide their service to us.
  • Where the law requires. We may disclose information if a law, court or authority requires it, or to protect people’s safety or our rights.

Because our providers operate in several places, your information may be processed in other countries.

Illustrative previews

A preview is a picture made by a computer from one of your photos, to show in an imagined way what hair might look like after some months of something you choose, such as a treatment or a habit. It is meant to motivate you and it is purely an illustration.

  • What it uses. The photo, how your hair looks and where it is thin (read from the photo by automated analysis), the treatments or habits and months you choose, and, to keep it realistic, some of the details you gave us, such as your hair colour, texture and length.
  • Where the estimates come from. From published research and other external sources, which we show with each preview. They are general: they are not about you, and we do not claim a doctor has reviewed how we use them.
  • It is not a prediction. Your real result may be different, smaller or none. A preview is not a promise and not medical advice.
  • Your confirmation. Before we show you a preview we ask you to confirm that you understand it is only an illustration. We keep a record of that confirmation (which notice and when), and ask again if the notice changes.
  • Marking. Every preview is marked on the picture as an illustration.
  • Keeping and deleting. Previews are private to your account, kept until you delete them or your account, and removed with your photos when you delete your account.
  • Our team. Authorised members of our team can see previews, and may make previews from photos to test and improve this feature. Those are not shown to anyone else.

Written answers (Ask Future Me)

Ask Future Me writes short answers for you: how well a product you type may suit you, and what could be better in your routine. They are written by an artificial intelligence service from general knowledge of published research. They are not medical advice.

  • What we send to write one. Text only: your age (not your date of birth), your gender if you gave it, your main concern and how long you have had it, your hair colour, texture and length, the numbers and notes from the one scan you pick, your most recent by default (the estimates and measurements, not the photos) and up to three plain-words notes on how that area has changed since your starting scan, the treatments you track and for how long, every My Routine answer you have given (including health background if you chose to answer, but not the ones you marked “prefer not to say”), and the product names you type.
  • What we do not send. Photos, your name, your email address, your date of birth, your ethnicity, or earlier scans’ numbers.
  • Reasons. Each point in an answer says which of these facts it rests on, and you can see them under “Based on”.
  • It can be wrong. Nobody at Folliclever, and no doctor, checks an answer, and we do not show sources for it. It may be incomplete or out of date. It describes possible benefits and downsides; it does not tell you what to do and gives no doses.
  • Allowance. A free account gets one written answer, for life. Premium gets ten each month.
  • Keeping and deleting. Answers are private to your account and kept until you delete them or your account. When you delete one its content is removed at once; we keep an empty record that it was made, so the allowance stays correct. They are included when you download your information.
  • Our team. Authorised members of our team can see answers to check their quality and fix problems.

How photos are protected

Photos are kept in private storage. They are shown to you only through short-lived links, never at a public address. Information travels over encrypted connections, and access to the systems that hold it is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

How long we keep it

We keep your photos, results, previews, written answers and details until you delete them or your account. Deleting your account (Account page) removes your photos, results, previews, written answers, treatments and details from our systems. This cannot be undone. A treatment you delete yourself can be restored for 30 days, then it is removed for good. Records of payments are kept for as long as the law requires, even after you delete your account; when you delete your account they are no longer linked to you.

Your choices and rights

  • See and download. The Account page lets you download everything we hold about you.
  • Correct. You can edit your details on the Account page.
  • Delete. You can delete your photos, results and account on the Account page at any time.

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as to object to or restrict how we use your information, or to complain to your local data protection authority.

Cookies and storage on your device

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser also keeps a few settings on your device, such as your voice-guidance choice.

Children

Folliclever is not for children under 13. We ask for your date of birth when you start, and we delete accounts we learn belong to someone under 13.

Not medical advice

Folliclever gives photo-based estimates for personal tracking. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat any condition. See our Terms and Conditions.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you in the app when the change is significant.
